What Style of Help Does Your Partner Need?


  • The concept of this video is to normalize that every person is different and what are partner needs will change. However, we can look to their history to see what might comfort them. You might benefit from asking them directly or trying some of the strategies suggested below:

  • Intently Listening

  • Grabbing your partner a glass of water

  • Words of Affirmation: Encouraging and Empathizing

  • Physical Touch: Cuddles

  • Gifts: Your partner may have been soothed by a meaningful gift in the past that showed them they were cared forB

  • Planning may help give your partner reassurance

  • Validation and exploring all possibilities (the best case and worse case)

  • Love requires efforts and intervention to help soothe another
